interested, but im curious to know just how effective link directory backlinks are these days.. Have you done any decent testing of their effectiveness? (as in just using this method, and monitoring backlinks)

Also do you know roughly how many of those directories are Do Follow ?

Directory backlinks are VERY effective. I've got one of my sites ranking #9 in Go0gle with just directory listings.

I just bought the tool and it's great. I strongly recommend to use this tool first to submit your 'fresh' sites to directories. Then, after a week or so, start promoting your sites the way you want. This way you won't get sandboxed by the big 'G'.

It is not the same listing for each directory site. As webmasters adjust the script for their needs.
The software gives you options to choose from 4 categories. If your selection of categories doesn not mach any of the available categories on the site - your website won't be listed. It will give response code 'Error: Can not find any good category'.
It's important to select broad match categories. I haven't looked into how to add your own categories to the software.
Overall, I think it's a good peace of software. As well, if you promote Search Engine Optimization services to third parties you can make money of that. That's what I mainly will use it for. It gives you the ability to add more directory sites which is great, and nevertheless generates report which you could send to your customers to prove where you listed their site(s).

Depends on the directory list you use.
In most cases the submissions get approved.
