Certainly I prefer laptop than pc because with laptop I can carry it anywhere, I can work anywhere and so I can travel as much as possible.

The laptop certainly is more viable for the benefit of charging to anywhere. But, the PC can be useful also when we are at home, or in the office, may even offer more comfort.

Unless you're putting a serious load on your processor, I would stick to the laptop, much more versatile for IM purpose's.

    Keep it up

Well, i moved away from using a desktop mid-college and just never went back. A laptop can last quite a while if you care for it, and battery issue can be dealt with if you get a laptop with replaceable battery. For me that is not even an issue - I only use my laptop somewhere I can plug in anyways. What is brilliant is that a laptop is not a permanent installation, and you can use it anywhere in the house. Courtesy of this I do not have a computer desk - it just gets put away when I do not need it. If I want to work in an armchair, that is not a problem either. Bedroom movie time? No problem. Working from home because I am sick? Can work in bed too, to keep my body relaxed (granted, for work I use a work issued machine which is still a laptop). So, while I agree that desktops are cheaper and live longer, their requirement for a dedicated space is not worth it in my lifestyle. PS: I am a part time software engineer, so I also spend plenty of time on code. For work setup, a nice keyboard and an offboard touchpad/mouse do wonders and can still be easily stored on a shelf when not needed.
