Extracted e-mails -> aweber mailing list

Hi guys,

Excuse my newbness with this question.

I have a list of ~500 email addresses of hot leads for my niche. Some of them know me, some don't. So my plan is:

Step 1 - I want to send a mass e-mail through some email client... Add a high quality free resource (so PDF file) in the first e-mail, which would serve as some sort of introduction...

Step 2 - Add all those e-mails to aweber and send an e-mail, say, 3 days later in which they can get the second part if they join the list.

2 questions:

1. Do you think this is a decent strategy? What sort of conversion should I expect (seeing that these e-mails are highly relevant). If any other ideas please share.

2. I have been using mostly Gmail for all my mailing purposes and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to send a mass e-mail like the first one I plan through there. I have a hostgator account to host my website and I do use:

myname@mydomain.com.

Would I be able to use ANY email client to send through the mass e-mail (say Outlook etc).

See i suggest you DONT give freebies to you list..i personally only derict them to product videos or say something like...put in your name and email adress to view the amazing product and see the shocking video in which i show you my personal paypal account..Blah...Blah...

And all those people freebie-seekers and BAD list members end up here in BHW...lol (Just a joke..i like the forum very much though)

And please dont keep emailing them everyday like micheal jones......
And dont make ur list opt in to other list's..like giveaway and whatnot....
You may get some new subscribers..but all in all you loose your subscribres to others as people in ur list might find the other marketer better and As you may well know...every person who opts in in a JV later spends some time unsuscribing too....(i like to clean my inbox too) i mean i get like a 100 emails every 12 hours the first time i joined a giveaway..now i just ignore the giveaways and unsubscribed to at least a hundred lists...

SO what i am trying to say is:

Treat your list well

DOnt let your list opt in to other lists

Market good products to your list

And keep your list away from giveawa's it greatly effects your conversions!!

So that was my 2 cents!!
