Is it Safe to Use Social Media for SEO now?

I heard from some people called their self as Search Engine Optimization expert that social media are the great for Search Engine Optimization and traffic. Has someone tried it and how is the result?
If it safe then please suggest me which of these the best for me:

Thanks mate, your suggestion is works great for me. Ive tried #3 and got these:
109 google plus votes
113 facebook likes
107 pinterest repins
1 twitter promotion to their 22,200 followers
Got traffics from twitter & pinterest
Alexa from 13,960,476 to 9,782,000
My majority of keywords boosted in rankings

I think that's worth more than $5 and at least safe from panda & penguin

Now let me try with #4

social media seems to be the new Search Engine Optimization so yea i beleive you can get more exposure to your site through social proof.

Agree with Elvis, social media for Search Engine Optimization are now on fire and google especially used it to monitor how good each website in social activity. #3 looks best #4 looks good.

I love to inventing new Search Engine Optimization strategies and coming up with mad backlinking tactics. And I found social media is the best for Search Engine Optimization and traffic now! So I can say to you just go with it. I suggest you to choose #3 or if you have more budget then I suggest you #1.

Its ok, but watch out sometimes they just deliver "dead fans" and you only get likes nothing else. You need real fans that will stay active on your fanpage to make some money. Anyway for Search Engine Optimization its also good

Don't buy any fans, likes or any similar things. They are all fake things.
Social networking could be very good for any site if done well.

I think for Search Engine Optimization both of real and f**e are same good when you not used it too much, say under 200 is good and looks natural for Search Engine Optimization. Again based on my experience

I set the cpc at 2 or 3 and let it run. I'm talking bout Google Plus Ones only. You need to have the G+1 buttons on your website.

That's right mate! It useful for attract real fans and also has great benefit for Search Engine Optimization.

Wow. Thanks to all MMD family for being very supportive. Never get this from other place before. Okay from most advice and votes then I will try to use #3 first and report back the result here then continue with #4 after it.
