Thank You!

PS: You should have a form there where we would register to get the future updates when they come out. This way you have a targeted list and we have some great tutorials coming in every once in a while. :bird:

It will not overwrite it but ask Bo before you do that lol, one line of code in vb.net is like 5 lines in vb6 most of the time.

Okay I need to ask you

I can see I can actually get a premade login form in vb.net, but how do I merge it together with the rest of the app?

The form1 that is created when you start a new project is the entire app until you add other things

I know that, but under project I can fx add windows form and in that I can choose login form.

How do I put it on my form1?

We'll cover a little of that in the next lesson, but basically you set an action on form1 open.

So when form1 is opening it shows the login form and the login form has to do a specific action before it allows form1 to open completely. I've never really used the login form as I usually just take a regular form and add text boxes and buttons to make my own login form.

was moving this weekend so it is going to be delayed a few days
Take your time my friend ;) you're doing a great job. Just a question that maybe will be covered in the next lesson: I went on doing more examples and I input a button in the form. What I want to do is that after pressing the button, create a window to navigate to a webpage. How can I do that? I have programed using Pascal but I understand that visual basic.net is an object oriented language so I have to set an action on that button but I didn't find an action to navigate to a webpage. I have also made scripts using autoit script so maybe I'm a bit confused because there you have many functions like navigate to a webpage already implemented.

We will cover that in the lesson after the next. But basically you add a button to the form then you add a web browser object. Then when the button is clicked WebBrowser1.Navigate("http://www.google.com")

note: the http:// is mandatory I believe

Sorry for my eagerness but one more question: In visual basic you can create only desktop applications or there is a way to create applications to be executed from a server? From what I understand you have to use PHP, javascript or ruby in order to create those. But looking at PHP scripts they look more like pascal than to visual basic. But both PHP, javascript and visual basic.net are object oriented languages. I would be grateful if you could elaborate on this.

I can chime in on this one.

Visual basic can be applied to server pages using asp.net, I don't do anything server side with .net so I will leave it at that.

PHP is probably easier to work with for a beginner than visual basic is. It is just more umm forgiving than any of the compiled languages, in a nutshell php allows you to write bad code and things still work. It is a great language to start with but is probably a bad choice if you want to be a full time programmer (lots of bad habits). One of these days I will post up a tutorial php/curl and scraping.

Javascript is client side which means it is interpreted by the users browser, and it isn't run by the server.
