Ask (almost) anything about Facebook ads and I'll try to answer your question!

I'm not going to do all the work for you but if you can show you've tried or have a good question post it here and I'll see if I can help you turn a profit!

AP, thanks for willing to help.

I've made quite a few attempts at FB but no success. My most recent one has decent CTR so I switched to CPM bids which I think is the right thing to do. However, only one conversion for tons of clicks. Next thing I know, FB disapproved the ad. I think it's the viewers "dislike" it.

Any tips to help make a profitable campaign? I know that FB is a social platform so certain kind of offers would work and some others don't.

Please provide some insights.

A rule of thumb is to get a CTR over .1%. I like to take it a step further and strive to get .2%+ on my ad copy before I run that ad full time.

Always use CPC with Facebook Ads. Only if your demo is under "15k or so" would I use CPM.

Try to target demographics over 100k+ targeted people.

Not going to talk in depth about offer much but... something that engages the user & is fun (for normal users). People get on FB to socialize, meet chicks, and to just laze through the day. You must be aggressive enough to get them to think "hey look at that ad" and then click on your ad.

Not my info but stands true: the amount of clicks depends on: 70% picture, 25% title, 5% body

As for the niches - dating, gaming & education are the big 3. I've been hitting it up with cpc, however if you get the ctr% good enough and get your day parting down you could easily save money with cpm. +It seems facebook prefers cpm bidders over cpc, as it's guaranteed money for them. I've had instances where I would bid higher than the suggested avg. cpc & not get impressions and then bid lower than the suggested avg. cpm for the same demographic and get my ad out there. Go figure..

Hey,

Thanks for your generous offer.

It's ok to have different accounts and buying FB cupons + VCC for promoting offers? What's your funding method?

I tested using cupons (I found for free) + Entropay VCC some time ago and was ok, but later if Entropay was detected and accounts banned in a breeze. Now I have another provider that is ok with FB, but must buy cupons, that's why I'm asking before doing that.

Well just depends. I personally will always say go CPC! Don't know for sure but all the bloggers I trust say cpc is the way to go aswell but in the end testing / your own method is the best way to go. Paying CPC allows you to test a lot of ads without paying for the bad ones :D

I don't believe in using the coupons. Be legit and ball out :D

Not sure if account history gives you any bonuses on facebook. (correct me if I'm wrong) If your just starting out or/and are on a budget then why not - try out some of those vouchers. Although managing everything under 1 account is definitely easier & more hassle-free.

By the way - for anyone doing paid advertising I'd STRONGLY recommend you to substitute your morning paper with Affbuzz.

Because those coupons are iffy. Sometimes you can get a perfectly fine account banned for misusing the vouchers for what they are intended for. Small businesses. I personally wouldn't game the system with vouchers. Spent my money and after some time of careful testing found some good campaigns.

I don't suggest going into dating on FB anymore. I'm pretty sure thats what they have been banning over.

But you won't really care if an account get's banned or not, cause your probably burning through 2+ accounts/day at least anyways ($50+ vouchers) As long as your clearing your cache, renewing your IP, using different vcc's/pp's you should be ok. If your still getting your accounts banned check that a) your CC address, IP location & billing location are the same b)Don't pay for the 1st ad with a voucher. (use your funding source to pay for the 1st ad to get it up & running, you can pause it or delete it as soon as it get's approved)

As for dating - it depends on the offer. They're banning mostly cause of the facebook dating apps like Cupid & BeNaughy. So you just might want to back off on those. The other thing with dating is that the ad image itself should be more or less PG13. You might get a couple of nastier ads approved from times to times BUT most of the times - ass, legs, tits = disapproval. After all, this is facebook not porntube. Too many disapproved ads might result in a ban.

Really you should be able to find a good campaign pretty easily using small tests and a semi-smart mind. I just did $5 tests coming out of my pocket until I found the first one. :proud:

Like I said it would just be better to not have to focus on bans and worry more about making good campaigns with a real account without the coupon mumbo jumbo.

By the way, have you noticed that it's a lot more difficult to get impressions after you have paused a campaign/ad & then start running it again, instead of just never pausing it in the first place. I remember someone blogging about this a while ago, can't put my finger on who it was.

Yeah it usually takes mine around 5-15mins to start back up. Also FB isn't displaying as many impressions later in the day anymore (even tried raising the bid to no luck)

What is the general idea of making money with facebook ads? Is it like putting your affiliate offer link in a banner space or something.

I really wanted to type some smart a** comment because your question was really... But instead I'll explain more.

You get a header, picture, and body text in your ad. You can direct link or link to a landing page.

Please no more questions like this. If you don't know what a FB ad is then you have some more reading to do.

Yea, talked to a superaffiliate about this as well. His suggestion was to raise the bid & hope for a strong ctr%. If your targeting a smaller demo. than it's easier to get back on track after pausing a campaign vs. a more saturated demo.

I guess another option is to just create new ads OR switch the paused ads over to CPM.
