so are you guys using google/yahoo/hotmail's stmp servers instead of your own? is there an advantage to that over using your own? i was thinking about installing a mail server on my vps.

Interspire can be installed on a windows vps right? and it runs in IIS?

This is one of my two accounts I've been working on using this technique. I'm mailing about 100k a day with probably 80-90% inbox. As you can see it doesn't take too much to make $$$.

Dude in 100K a day it does not make 80 to 90% inbox rate look at your unique hits, I am getting about 100 a day unique hits from 1000 email I sent. So I have 10% who open the email, then most of the time I am getting 60% bounced emails because I just scrap it over the web and I am getting 40% unsubscribe daily! I used to send 10k a day by now and I am getting 1k unique hits or more.

Its not a joke! Yes because my list is not targeted and I used to scrap it everywhere!

yea, set up interspire to process bounces, you just setup a "bounce email" and set a cron job for interspire to process, or alternatively you could use a third party bulk mail service for bounce processing.

or lastly you could pay a data cleaning/scrubbing service.

Especially when you consider that it is actually illegal to mail out to lists that have not opted in.

not all bulk mail is spam, you can legally buy data, and mail that data legally.

either way the steps to mail properly are about the same.

I guess the email lists can be bought for not too much so it makes sense if you can convert some of those emails into a targeted audience of your own.

I feel you, yea there are spammers and non spammers, either way you're gonna get bounces and unsubs.. it is just data.. not like a self generated double opt in list.

i look at email as just another traffic source..

How much does it cost to drive a click, and make a sale.. ETC..

All the big free email providers (aka ESP's) have daily sending limits per account. You may want to get a VPS to use for sending via SMTP. Noone ever said emailing was easy.
