Parody accounts on Twitter are used a lot to get clicks. People create a parody account of someone popular like Selena Gomez, and use it to tweet their links. Then they retweet it from one of their more popular accounts. (Or get others to do it for them).

Anyways, I noticed a way to make your parody accounts look more realistic. You probably won't need to do this, but I didn't just want to keep it to myself. Because of Twitter's new layout you can add a header image under your profile image. This makes it possible to add a fake "verified profile" badge by your name. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a screenshot of Ryan Seacrest's profile with the REAL badge...

Here's a profile I just made to make this tutorial. As you can see, there is no badge at the moment. Because this is just a PARODY account of Justin Bieber.

All we need to do is get our old header image, and add the badge in Photoshop or any image editing program, then re-upload it.

You need to use an image that has already been cropped and resized by Twitter to fit the header space (so when you re-upload it, it doesn't get cropped/resized again and ruin the badge). This means if you want to use a completely new image, just upload it as a header first before going to the next step...

Right click at the TOP of your header image in google chrome (I don't know about in other browser) and click Inspect Element.

Then you can get the image by clicking the link shown below...

Open that in photoshop, and drag the badge on top. Estimate where you name ends, and put it there. Save the image and upload it as your header. The badge probably won't be in the perfect place, so just change it a try again. After a few attempts you should get it perfect.

Can you explain how you would monetize the traffic from a Parody account?

1. The loooooooong way. Slowly build up your followers list.
Use these settings in Tweet Adder:
Auto follow max 400 people a day, 2 to 4 minutes in between each follow.
Auto unfollow max 200 people a day, 3 to 5 minutes between each unfollow.
Auto "tweet search" your keyword. (People who tweet your keywords are the ones it will auto follow)
MAKE SURE YOU ALSO TWEET OFTEN OR YOU WILL GET BANNED FOR FOLLOW/UNFOLLOW ****MING. You can even automate tweets if you want...

2. As long as your account looks legit, you can tweet an ad from it (even with no followers), and get someone with a larger account to retweet you. Then the larger account's followers will see "Justin Bieber's" (or whoever) tweet in their timeline.

Blah blah blah... be creative

That hasn't explained my question.

I already have 1000s of followers, I have been using Twitter since the beginning. I use some other programs to build the followers as well as natural growth.

How do you monetize a parody account, as in how do you make money off the traffic?

I mostly just use MyLikes. It's a really simple PPC program that's made for twitter (along with youtube, tumblr, etc...).
Yesterday there was an ad paying 25 cents per click. It's not there anymore, but that's just an example of how good it gets.

That's interesting.

I didn't know whether you could get away with pushing an artists music tracks. I've never tried it, but iTunes has an affiliate program.

Perhaps they might frown upon a parody account, but it could be another way to monetize the traffic, depending on how strict iTunes is.

There usually aren't any problems with doing that, unless you're making the account for your business...
But if you're just making a general account (like @funnytweets) or a parody account, then almost none of your followers will be actually typing in your twitter profile URL, so there is no problem with changing it.
